Shoe painting

Years ago I started collecting gently used, high quality, comfy shoe brands.  I planned on upcycling them by painting them.  I finally started working on them last week.  Here are the results...

Motivation and Bees

Going through a some downtime when it comes to glass.  Haven't been on the torch in months BUT have cleaned the studio which was desperately out of order.  And I have at least looked at glass websites.  Have ideas, just no motivation.  In an effort to motivate myself, I signed up for a class on working with boro glass tubing at the West Michigan Glass Art Center this month.  And am going to the Soft Glass Invitational in May with Ricky which should be fun.  A couple gallons of sangria will assure that it will be fun!

Ricky's Christmas present to me was a top bar bee hive.  I have always wanted to be a beekeeper.  Now that colony collapse disorder has become so prevalent and devastating to our pollinators, I finally have taken the steps.   Ordered the bees from Wolk Creek Apiaries.  They were SO helpful, lots of advice.  The bees should come in the end of April.  Now thinking about what plants to add to our yard to keep a hive of bees happy.   Bees are magical insects that do incredible things. I'm excited!

Here it is!  What y'all have been waiting for!!!  Great show at Denise's house.  I'll be bringing Sangria, as usual...and a few things that are unusual for me.  I'll be bringing cool clocks made out of books and a few cozy slippers from upcycled felted wool sweaters.  There are a few new artists joining us this year.  It'll be fun!  See you there!

Bead Fest Philly is just around the corner

We're headed for Bead Fest Philly in just a two weeks!  It's their 10th anniversary.  I will be with my beading buddies, Fire Foxes Glass,  at Philly for our 5th year.  I can't believe how time flies!  If you'd like a free pass into the show send me an email and ll make sure you get one.  We'll be at Booth #210, there is a new location so really look at those directions.  Here is the class Kathleen is teaching this time around.  She's a great teacher and it's almost full so register now.

Not Your Ordinary Bracelet - Sunday, August 21, 2011, 8:30 - 4:00pm - This is not your ordinary bracelet With one quick twist and turn you can turn it into a fabulous necklace, and then back into this luscious bracelet....See rest of details here.

Just got back from the Gathering.  It was a wonderful time, enjoyed rooming with my beady friends, Denise, Susan, and Kim, enjoyed all the knowledge gained at the demos, and the wonderful fellow beaders who are so generous with their information and friendship.  Just a great event! Also glad to be home.  Brought home some Buffalo Trace Kentucky bourbon for the hubby but it wouldn't be right to make him drink alone..... :)
