About Me

My family: I'm married to Ricky...oh my God, it'll be 25 years this year!  I have a 3 grown children, Melanie (31), Andy (30) and Derek (28) and three grandchildren, Austin  (9 yrs old), Jaiden (6 yrs old), Aaron (4 yrs old) AND there is a new grandbaby on its way, due July 20th.  All this beadmaking started as a way to fill in the empty nest gap but with grandchildren, but the nest is feeling pretty full to me.
Where I live: I live in an old farmhouse with a huge old barn on two acres in Sumpter Township, near Belleville, Michigan. We also have another two acres on the beautiful St. Joseph River in Buchanan Township, about 25 minutes from Lake Michigan and 9 miles from the Michigan/Indiana border. The only bluebirds I've ever seen in my life were spotted on that land multiple times so it must be a happy place. Ricky and I get away there several times every summer to kayak, bike, beachcomb, and camp. This might be where we retire someday.
Where I work: I work at Ypsilanti District Library where I am the Branch Manager of the busy Michigan Avenue downtown branch.  This means I get to do a little bit of everything, from reference, circulation, ordering materials, keeping everyone motivated, scheduling, programming, and keeping all of our teens and kids busy.

Previously, I was Head of Automated Services at Brighton District Library where I did lots of technology and librarian stuff and got to work with my daughter.

What Else:  I'm also an elected board member of the Belleville Area District Library and a member of the Southeast Michigan Glass Beadmakers Guild and the International Society of Glass Beadmakers.  My buddies, Denise Billups Walker and Kathleen Robinson Young together make up Fire Foxes Glass
